Wed. 7th January. KILVEY HILL Meet at 11.00 a.m. at Pentre-chwyth car park GR 665950 for a moderate 6m/9.5k walk with one steep climb, to look at burial chambers and a witches’ cave, plus one of the best views in Swansea. Leader Mike Lewis Dogs on short leads.
Sat. 10th January. 98% HILL FREE! (no guarantee on the other 2%!) Meet at 10.00 a.m. at Porthcawl on roadside between harbour and fairground GR SS 766821 for a 9m/14k walk visiting old wells, past Sker House, searching for the grave of the original Bracchi and toasting him with coffee in Pietro’s. Sun. 11th January. BRYN, LLANGYNWYDD AND MAESTEG Meet 8.30 a.m. at County Hall or 9.00 a.m. at car park just east of Bryn on B 4282, GR SS 818920 for a 12m/19k moderate walk circling Maesteg. Leader Roger Brown No dogs.
Sat. 17th January. CAN CANUTE DO WHITEFORD? Meet at 10.30 a.m. at Cwm Ivy C.P. GR 439935 (donation) for a 6m/10k moderate walk to Whiteford Point during which Mike will try to hone his tide turning skills & get us to the lighthouse! Leader Mike Lewis Dogs on short leads.
Sun. 18th January. Short walk joint with Ramblers PONTARDAWE CIRCULAR Meet at 11.00 a.m. in the car park with toilets opposite the Pink Geranium in Pontardawe, GR 722040, for a 3m/5k moderate walk, via the first waterfall in the hidden valley of Cwm Du, then southwards to Trebanos beside the canal, and return by the River Tawe. Sat. 24th January. LLANGENNECH CIRCULAR Meet at 10.30 a.m. at Allt nr Llangennech (Turn right at 1st roundabout off the A4138 about 2km from J48 on M4. Park in estate on left) GR SN 558023 for a 7m/11k walk through fields and wooded valley north of Llangennech. Easy walking with one climb; a few wet spots but mainly good underfoot. Sun. 25th January. A WALK TO THE UPPER LLIW RESERVOIR Meet at 10.00 a.m. in the lay-by opposite the Fountain Inn Pontardulais GR SN 602031 for a 10m/16k moderate walk to the area of the Upper Lliw reservoir. Leader Bob Smith Dogs on short leads.
